Balliater is the designer furniture brand that is part of Lande NL B.V. Balliater respects the privacy of website visitors, customers and partners, and processes all data confidentially and in accordance with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
On this page, you will find our privacy policy in the form of frequently asked questions and answers. This makes it easy to find the information you are looking for. The privacy statement covers all processing of personal data of our (potential) customers and users of our websites and other services.
When does our privacy statement apply?
Our privacy statement applies to any processing of personal data of our (potential) customers and users of our websites. By personal data, we mean information that can be traced directly or indirectly to an individual, without the name of that individual having to be known. This includes customer number, address, place of residence, email address, telephone number, cookie IDs and financial data.
We believe it is important that our services are reliable and transparent. We therefore treat your personal data with discretion and care and ensure that any processing of your data complies with the applicable laws and regulations (GDPR). We may amend our privacy statement if new developments require us to do so.
You can always read the latest version on this page to stay informed of any changes. In the event of significant changes, we will also actively inform you via our website and possibly other channels.
Who processes your data and who protects it?
Lande NL B.V. is responsible for processing your data. This means that Lande NL B.V. determines how and which of your data is processed, for what purposes, on what basis and for how long data is stored. We do not process your data without reason and only if we need it for one or more specific purposes.
The Dealer Locator contains links to websites of other parties, such as our dealers. Although we have carefully selected these parties, we are not responsible for any processing of data via these websites. Lande NL B.V. is not the controller in this respect and our privacy statement therefore does not apply.
What data do we process?
When you visit our website, we process your data. This includes your IP address, but also your clicking behaviour, so that we can provide you with a more personalised and relevant service. Cookies enable us to see which parts of the website you have viewed. We may also process data when you place an order with Lande NL B.V., ask our customer service a question or submit a business card.
We do not process your data without reason and only if we need it for one or more specific purposes. Lande NL B.V. may process the following personal data:
■ Initials, first and last name, prefix
■ Email address, postal address and (mobile) telephone number
■ The company details where you work
■ Other data necessary for the delivery of our products and services
■ Data about your visit to our websites, including the IP address of your device to visit our websites
■ Data you provide for the purpose of a job application
In many cases, you yourself make this personal data available to Lande NL B.V., for example by asking a question, handing over a business card, subscribing to the newsletter or applying for a job at Lande NL B.V.
If you do not provide all the necessary personal data, Lande NL B.V. may not be able to deliver products and/or services (in full).
What do we use your data for?
Lande NL B.V. does not process your data without reason and only if we need it for one or more specific purposes. We may use your personal data for the following:
■ To contact you in response to a question or request
■ To enter into an agreement, fulfil the agreement and deliver our products and/or services
■ To comply with legal obligations
■ To carry out marketing activities, including sending newsletters, invitations to trade fairs and partner days (see further explanation below)
■ To monitor and improve the user-friendliness of our website
■ To contact you in response to a question or request
■ To process a job application
■ Personal data is processed in the performance of a contract or with your consent.
Marketing activities
If you have created a Balliater account, subscribed to the digital newsletter, purchased one or more articles, and registered your product(s), we may contact you for marketing purposes. We do this through various communications and channels. In addition, we may combine data from other parties with data we already have about you. We only do the latter with your consent.
By analysing your behaviour based on our marketing communications, we can better tailor our information and offers to your personal preferences. This involves profiling: any form of automated data processing in which we analyse certain personal aspects of you in order to predict your personal preferences, interests and behaviour, among other things. To do this, we use cookie data and account data (and, with your consent, data from other parties).
Examples include:
■ 'Recently viewed' items
■ 'Personalised rows' with items in our emails
■ Discount codes for your birthday
■ Advertising banners with items you have previously viewed
We analyse how effective our campaigns are based on your behaviour. To do this, we look at your (re)actions. For example, do you click through emails or banners to view items? And how well do our banner ads work? We process various data for marketing purposes.
Social media
If you communicate with one of the brands of Lande NL B.V. via social media, for example if you post a comment, upload media, send a message, share an article from our website or click on a like button, we may receive data such as your (user) name, place of residence, email address and gender.
If you ask a question via social media, we will store the data we receive with the data we already have about you. We do this so that we can respond to your question or comment as effectively as possible and provide you with a more personalised service in the future.
Sometimes we may link your social media activities to ours. For example, if you publicly share a photo of a Balliater design you have purchased via your social media accounts and post it with the hashtag #Balliater, we may repost that photo on our accounts. We do not do this automatically, as we first make a selection of photos. When reposting, we always mention your account name: after all, the photo is not ours. Would you like us to remove your photo? Please send us a private message via our accounts. We will respond as soon as possible.
The use of social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter or YouTube is not subject to our terms and conditions and privacy statement, but to the terms and conditions, privacy and cookie statements of the social media in question. We recommend that you read these carefully if you have any questions about them.
Special promotions
The brands of Lande NL B.V. occasionally offer special promotions, such as savings promotions, competitions, campaigns or prize draws. We may ask you to complete an online form in order to participate.
We need your name, address, place of residence, age, telephone number and email address to confirm your participation and send you any prizes and benefits you have won. We also process your acceptance of our terms and conditions (which you must always accept when participating in a special promotion) and information about your participation. This includes entries, scores, etc., depending on the promotion.
Customer satisfaction survey
In order to improve your customer experience and our products and services, we need insight into the experiences and satisfaction levels of our customers.
How long do we retain your data?
In general, Lande NL B.V. does not retain your data longer than is necessary for the purpose for which we collected it. After this period, we delete or anonymise this data. Anonymisation means that we ensure that the data can no longer be traced back to you. Sometimes, due to a retention obligation, we need certain data for longer than is strictly necessary for the purpose for which it was provided.
If this is the case, we have a basis for doing so and will ensure that this data is only accessible for that purpose. After that, we will of course still anonymise or delete your data. Lande NL B.V. regularly carries out an action to delete stored data for this purpose.
< 2 years
This retention period applies to the following categories:
■ If no further correspondence has taken place after initial contact and Lande NL B.V. does not enter into a contract with you, your personal data will be deleted in the annual clean-up.
■ Personal data provided in a job application will be deleted annually in the annual clean-up after rejection, unless otherwise agreed.

This retention period applies to the following categories:

■ Tax documentation and reports on deliveries of goods, imported and exported goods and other relevant data
■ Payment overview/invoices
■ Orders, proof of delivery of orders

Marketing activities only with consent
The personal data for which you have given your explicit consent to be processed will be retained for as long as Lande NL B.V. uses that data to carry out marketing activities. If, for any reason, Lande NL B.V. decides to discontinue these activities, your personal data will be retained for that purpose for a maximum of one year after the last marketing activity was sent and will be deleted in the aforementioned annual action.
You may withdraw your consent to the processing of personal data at any time. You can do this by clicking on the link in the relevant mailing or by contacting us at privacy@lande.group.

Insofar as third parties are not themselves responsible for the processing of your data, Lande NL B.V. enters into a so-called processing agreement with these parties that complies with the GDPR requirements, in order to guarantee the same level of security and confidentiality of your personal data as much as possible.

We will close security and data breaches as quickly as possible.
