Oak veneer is a natural product that creates a warm, timeless look. This gives each table or cabinet its own unique character. Because veneer is made from real wood, it also retains the natural characteristics of oak: variations in grain, color, and structure are part of the process. Even within the same wood species, variations can occur. If you reorder later, this may result in slight variations in color and grain.
With use and time, oak veneer develops a weathered character. Sunlight can affect the color, and daily use can cause light scratches. This is inherent to the material and contributes to the natural appearance. Oak veneer is also sensitive to heat; therefore, never place hot objects directly on the surface and always use coasters.
To keep your Balliater furniture looking its best for as long as possible, we recommend wiping the surface with a nearly dry cloth. Daily cleaning with water or cleaning products isn't necessary; once every two to four weeks is sufficient.
Use only mild cleaning agents and never exceed the recommended dosage. Avoid harsh agents and chemicals such as bleach or turpentine, as these can cause permanent stains. Never place wet, hot, or cold objects directly on the surface to prevent rings and irreparable damage.
The oak veneer is finished with Rubio Monocoat oil , which forms a molecular bond with the wood. This provides durable, wear-resistant protection while preserving the natural appearance. The accompanying maintenance package can be used for periodic maintenance.
